I am writing this book as the author of my own experience. I am not writing because I have every answer. I am writing because I lived through experiences that changed me, and because my journal, recordings, messages, photographs, medical records, and memories became the way I could preserve what I knew, what I remembered, what I was told, and what I was still trying to understand.

I have intentionally kept people unnamed in this edition. Where I describe assault, medical wrongdoing, criminal conduct, poisoning, or intentional harm, I am presenting my firsthand account, my memory, or information I received. I distinguish those experiences from conclusions that require independent proof. My purpose is to tell my story faithfully, not to manufacture certainty.

My spiritual interpretation is mine. I believe the Most High warned me, strengthened me, and taught me discernment. The phoenix represents what happened after the fire: I rose.

This Volume One ends before I received the phone call about my father's death. His story begins in Volume Two, in loving memory of Michael Anthony Strawder Sr.
